Meaning of the "overdate"

Hi to everyone,

then I browse Krause coin catalog sometimes I see: overdate variety exist. What does it mean?

Hi, I think this means that date is struck over another date.

Term overdate mean that the mint reused a coin with an other date or made a mistake. So they stamped new date on top of another.
Usually it is the last number of the date that is over-stamped.

I don't have such coins my self but found picture on ebay to illustrate: 1860 overdate 1850.
