Banknotes

CoinsBook plan to create banknote catalog. This is thoughts for the future. So if you have ideas how this should be done, please don't hesitate to leave a comment.

With banknotes always the problem is whether you want to include all localized issues (for example notgeld) or not. General banknotes are decently catalogued in Krause wold banknotes series but not the localized issues. The local issues usually amount to more examples than the general ones. The German notgelds for example amount to 120.000 different types. If the search engine and catalogue in this site is not adjusted to this, official German banknotes will be lost in them and it will be hard to use the catalogue (just imagine looking for a official 10 mark from 1919 which the search engine would give 2000 or more results).

After a decision is made on how to organize local issues, the banknotes could be added just like coins. But you should need a good classification system like:

Country: France

---Coins

-----------trial issues

------------Medals

-----------Tokens

---Banknotes

--------------official issues

--------------local issues

---Stamps (why not!):):)

Hello Tolga,

thanks for your comment! We are now activelly thinking about implementing banknote catalog in our site. One thing that we need is atributes set that defines a Banknote type, cause we don't know much about them. If someone could help us with such things CoinsBook could have banknote catalog (of course later we'll have much bigger job enterring all banknotes to our system :) ). And maybe some others later (like stamps).

Regards, Tomas
