ISIS coins for collectors

Hello to everyone,

New government, new coins?

Interested in your opinion. Do you think these coins are going to circulate as real currency? And do they become wanted coins for collectors?

Regards, Tomas

These no way can be called coins. Coins are only money that is legal tender at some country. ISIS is not recognized state, the question who and on whose orders these coins were minted, and really they will hardly circulate in those areas where ISIS controls.

Totaly agree, no coins from this "Govenment" in my collection.

I am beginner coin collector, so I can speak only based on logic, this is not my experience. If mintage of those coins are small, probability it's a big possibility that these coins would be wanted by collectors after some years and price will be much higher. From this point if you can own this coin, just do it :)

Hi to all,

Slav, for example will take German NotGeld coins: The fact is that, without any possibilities, coins mintage was small. After the years the price is not very high and this is also a fact. In my opinion: This is because many collectors are looking at NotGeld coins as tokens, actually these coins are called Civil War Tokens. The same will happen with ISIS tokens. So I would not looking for an investment opportunity here.

Interesting discusion here.

Let’s talk about NotGeld coins price – there are lots of different coins. Rarely collectors hope to collect all of them, it’s highly possible that there are no such ones. That’s why neither demand is high nor the price big. If talking about ISIS it might be very collectible value, and the reasons are: 1. represents the organisation of evil; 2. the mintage is low; 3. this coins will reflect the time period. In my opinion historians will talk for a long time about these Islamic countries and mostly because of the crisis of immigrants. So the collectors will definitely wish to have the relevant coins in their collections. Otherwise, if these coins are not and won’t ever be in usage these can’t even be called a coin. So it’s hard to say how it turns, probably only time shows.

Of course we all search for new, interesting and rarely seen items for our collections either to rise it’s value, or just for excitement. However, I think, even here should be some limits. It’s hardly understood the appearance of the notional currency of ISIS. Firstly because of the highly negative activity of this organisation, it’s really doubtful if this currency should be accepted. But even if it happens to close eyes on that – it’s a big question about a value of these and possibility to be called the currency. All in all the main idea I try to arise is the moral view to this problem.

Monroe, firstly I would like to highlight, that I strongly believe that ISIS is the organisation of evil. However – should we put on one side the hobby and the beliefs. The collected items no way reflects you ideology. For example – collecting  the coins of 3-rd Reich don’t turn you to Nazi.
As for me – I would like to have these coins in my collection.
