How to photograph coins?

Hello to everyone!

I'm trying to make good photos of my coins. Here is my best try:

On my photo I see coin as bronze coin, but in real it is bimetalic. Detalization is also poor. I can't understand what I'm doing wrong?

Hi,

I'm not a specialist but I think that you should try another lighting. Maybe natural sun light.

i use differnt setup.

DSLR Camera

Hello Fay88,

yes your main mistake is lighting. In order to obtain the natural color of the photo you need natural light. Also, since the coin is in holder (with plastic sheet) watch out for reflections, i.e., you should choose a light, but without direct sun rays shooting place.

For detalization of your photos first of all use tripod, macro and delay functions, and place coin close to lens.
